This short essay aims to present the issue of coins found in Punic and Neo-Punic funerary contexts on the island of Malta, a privileged bridge between the northern and southern shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Starting from a bibliographical review and referring to literary and documentary sources, the article briefly addresses the complex problems of identifying this phenomenon on the island due to the chronic absence of stratigraphic data from past investigations and the lack of extensive publications of more recent archaeological excavations. Some more or less certain cases are presented with the aim of contributing to the understanding of the phenomenon on a broader scale.
